The Lanyang Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2015. The members of the orchestra are composed of outstanding young musicians in Yilan County and some are from the north of Taiwan. It is also the best private orchestra in Yilan. Their first performance last February 2016 was well applause and was very well appreciated by the audiences. Lanyang Symphony Orchestra plans to produce two or more annual concerts. The group's objective is to promote their music to the region. Being based in Yilan, Taiwan, the orchestra also aims to perform and be known globally so the world would notice the Yilan County.

The current head and the permanent conductor of the orchestra is Mr. Chen Shijie. They also commissioned an excellent conductor Mr. Yu Ja Fu, who is now the orchestra's first artistic director.
