Recorder player and composer Karla Domínguez grew up in Managua, Nicaragua, in a barrio next to Carretera Sur, one of the main roads through the city. The sounds she heard back then inspires the music she plays with the band she founded and named after that road: Carretera Sur. An extraordinarily vivid and colorful music that melts all of the influences present in the members of the band: Latin, Jazz, Classical, and even Early European Music. All of these come together in Domínguez' soulful original compositions. Furthermore, the band's take on traditional Nicaraguan music reveals a deep understanding of the musical heritage while creating a fresh, up to date sound.
