The Richard Montgomery Jazz Ensemble is one of seven performing ensembles at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland. This smaller ensemble is specifically devoted to playing jazz styles of music. The Richard Montgomery High School Jazz Ensemble consistently receives critical acclaim at local, national, and international levels. In addition to performing concerts and for festivals throughout the year, ithas performed on local television and for events around the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.

　　The Richard Montgomery High School Instrumental Music Department consists of two concert bands, a jazz ensemble, two¬¬ orchestras, a marching band, and a pit orchestra. These ensembles consistently receive critical acclaim at local, state,national, and international levels. The ensembles have performed at: The Eastern Division National Association for Music Education Eastern Division Conference, The Annual Blues Alley Big Band Jam, the East Coast Jazz Festival, The Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival, The Maryland State Band & Orchestra Festival, and DAR Constitution Hall.The National Association for Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) has designated the program as a Grammy Signature School.
